Software
The browser is becoming your most important work app
For many people, a working day starts and ends in browser tabs. That makes the browser a serious productivity, privacy, and security decision.
Documents, meetings, dashboards, support systems, research, and internal tools often live in one window. The result is convenience—and a need for clearer boundaries around identities, extensions, and attention.
Separate contexts on purpose
Use distinct profiles for work and personal accounts. The separation reduces accidental sharing, keeps histories and bookmarks focused, and makes it easier to sign out of a work environment without disrupting everything else.
Extensions are software with access
An extension can read or change pages depending on its permissions. Remove tools you no longer use, prefer narrow permissions, and review access after major updates. A smaller extension list is easier to audit.
Tabs need an ending
Named groups and saved reading lists can help, but they should not become permanent storage. Close finished projects, capture decisions in the system that owns them, and keep the browser focused on active work.
